Trish and Alex

On September 26, 2015, Trish and Alex became man and wife among the stunning Blue Ridge Mountains. Their classic and simple vineyard wedding took place at Afton Mountain Vineyards. A cloudy sky and the threat of rain did not dull the brilliance and beauty of this day!

The wedding concept was rustic, modern elegance with a sophisticated country feeling. Colors of navy, champagne, ivory, and grey were complemented with accents of blue. The bridal party’s bouquets and boutonnieres were wrapped in blue ribbons, and the ceremony space was framed by blue and cream arrangements mounted on cedar barrels.

The bride carried a loose and unstructured bouquet of ivory and blush garden roses, cream lisianthus, veronica, spray roses, and dahlias. The flowers were tied in an ivory, satin ribbon and pinned with pearls.

The wedding was infused with a simple, rustic elegance. A color palette of navy, pale yellow, and grey was chosen, and we integrated these colors into our designs.

The bride carried a loose and airy bouquet of “Café au lait” dahlias, freesia, “Quick Sand” roses, “Majolica” spray roses, astrantia, hydrangea, and dusty miller. The flowers were wrapped with a burlap ribbon and a cream collar.

For the ceremony, we provided two of our Tourterelle birch bark barrels topped with arrangements to mark the altar. The arrangements were full of hydrangea, roses, eucalyptus, scabiosa pods, yellow snap dragons, and dahlias. The aisle was lined by clear hobnail jars holding a loose collection of dahlias, hydrangea, and roses.

For the reception, we continued our floral story in birch containers. The centerpieces were placed on round bark slabs and beds of moss to add dimension and interest to the tables. Interspersed on the slabs was a mix of mercury glass votive candles and dried hydrangea.

Rebecca and Petar

Happy New Year to all! We are kicking off the year with a blog post featuring a stunning wedding photographed by the talented Alisandra Photography.20150926_rebecca_petar_0033Rebecca and Petar were married at the beautiful Early Mountain Vineyards in September 2015. The event was planned by A. Dominick Events.

The picturesque setting and mountains infused the wedding with a casual and romantic vibe. We complemented this theme with a seasonal color palette of cream, grey, lavender, and eggplant. Specifically, we used Antique Hydrangea, dahlias, garden roses, ranunculus, purple-throated calla lilies, astrantia, greens, and dusty miller to reflect the vineyard’s autumnal scenery.

The bride carried a fulsome, loose, and romantic bouquet. Cream and lavender flowers, including Antique Hydrangea, dahlias, and calla lilies, were tied together with a vintage satin ribbon and pinned with pearls.

Antique Hydrangea, dahlias, cream roses, lavender roses, dusty miller, seeded eucalyptus, calla lilies with purple throats, ranunculus, astrantia, and silver brunea.

For the ceremony, we created altar decor to fit the theme. Oak barrels were topped with arrangements of cream and green hydrangea, lavender roses, white dahlias, and cascading greenery. The warmth of the central fireplace was echoed along the aisle with glowing lanterns.

The reception took place in the Early Mountain Vineyards Event Hall as well. We continued the Southern charm motif of the wedding into the tablescapes, creating a rich and colorful background for the mason jar and honey sample favors.

Each table had a different mix of containers and flowers. Low, square, vintage wooden cubes and hobnail jars held loose and “picked from the garden” arrangements in lavender and cream. Round, wooden slabs were used as a base for arrangements on some tables. Vintage mercury votives were also scattered on tables for a finishing touch.

The long, rectangular head table had six cylindrical vases for the bridesmaid’s bouquets to be repurposed into table decor. A floral and garland runner of camellia leaf, seeded eucalyptus, and Antique Hydrangea was interwoven between the vases down the length of the table.

Lindsay and Johnny

In early May, we had the pleasure of working with Lindsay and Johnny from Chicago. Their wedding was at Keswick Hall, the photographer was Jen Fariello and all of the wedding details were perfectly executed.

Lindsay was looking for a sophisticated, elegant mix with a soft and fulsome romantic feel. Her colors were spearmint with coral accents, creams, soft pinks and shades of cool green. The table flowers were in an eclectic mix of vintage silver bowls and containers collected by Tourterelle over the years. Mercury candlelight completed the look.

The bridal bouquet was creams, peaches, corals and mint accents. “Juliet” and “Patience” roses, “Ilse” spray rose, White/cream peonies, “Coral Charm” peonies, sweet pea, white freesia, white ranunculus, lisianthus, and white astrantia with scented geranium and dusty miller. Tied in a ivory satin ribbon  pinned with pearls.

Bohemian Florals

Earlier this February, we collaborated with other Charlottesville vendors to style this fabulous bridal shoot at Montfair Resort. If you are looking for a departure from the traditional bouquet for your wedding, this organic and natural look is a great option. The bouquet includes a variety of unique florals, such as white lilac, russet and majolica roses, acacia, and astrantia. We even added some blackberries and scabiosa pods to add some whimsy to the wintry design.

Thank you so much to Lindsey Zovko Photography for these beautiful photographs, and the gorgeous scenery of Montfair Resort Farm.
