Harriet and Stephen

Harriet and Stephen were married on a beautiful May 2015 evening at Ash Lawn-Highland. The wedding’s inspiration was a simple, rustic elegance with a Scottish countryside feel. The diverse color palette of amethyst, lavender, teal, heather purple, yellow, blue, and green was inspired by the “Isle of Skye” kilt.

The groomsmen and groom wore the “Isle of Skye” kilts to honor the groom’s Scottish heritage. The boutonnieres reflected the color palette of the kilts, with blue thistle and green hypericum, tied with a thin sage velvet ribbon. The groom’s boutonniere (below) included the thistle, along with heather, tied together with an ivory ribbon.

The ceremony took place on the grounds of Ash Lawn-Highland, overlooking the mountains. The altar was marked by two large arrangements, including green hydrangea, thistle, heather, and other richly colored additions. Aisle markers of blue hydrangea, heather, and cream roses also added color to the ceremony.

The tartan made its way into the reception as well, draped across the chairs of the bride and groom. The reception flowers thus maintained the strong color palette and were complemented by the glow of mercury glass votives.

The bride’s bouquet was rustic and rich. A blue, green base of thistle, hydrangea, dusty miller, and camellia leaf added texture. “Majolica” spray roses, green roses, and heather provided additional color. For a more unique flair, we also added succulents.
