Christian and Jesse

Fall weddings in the mountains of Virginia are always picturesque, but Christian and Jesse’s autumn nuptials at King Family Vineyards was beyond stunning! Nikki Santerre Photography brilliantly captured the misty mountains and colorful details of this wedding. Some of our favorite images were those taken on film, enhancing the wedding’s rustic charm.

Christian wore a lovely, flowing dress with lace detail. To complement her soft and romantic style, we created a loose, unconstructed bouquet of dusty blue, blush pink, and peach. Pee Gee hydrangea, Majolica spray roses, seeded eucalyptus, dahlias, Quick Sand roses, and White Calcynia heather were arranged and tied together with a light sliver burlap ribbon. Wheat stalks were incorporated for a unique and natural texture.

Christian’s lovely bridesmaids wore gradients of blue, which was the perfect backdrop for bouquets of green, peach, and blush. Dimension was created with a collection of feathered white heather, seeded eucalyptus, and wheat stalks. Hydrangea, dahlias, and peach spray roses added a punch of color, while a natural muslin ribbon gave the bouquet a finishing touch.

The boutonnieres also included wheat in the composition, maintaining a cohesive theme in the floral design. A vibrant peach dahlia bud was reserved for Jesse’s boutonniere, while the groomsmen sported peachy pink spray roses on their lapels.

The ceremony details were created to enhance the natural beauty of the Blue Ridge Mountains, while also reinforcing the romance and simple sophistication of the wedding. On the aisles, we placed birch pedestals topped with beds of moss. Sweet arrangements in blue, vintage Mason jars sat upon each cylinder. Quotes on love, carved onto wooden medallions, added a personal and sweet detail to the aisle markers.

Christian and Jesse said “I do” under a statement-making altarpiece. Blue and green hydrangea intertwined with deep green magnolia branches, garden roses, fall grasses, wheat stalks, and curly willow branches to create a lush floral arch.

The reception took place in the charming Carriage House at King Family. A soft, cascading garland was draped across the mantle piece of the stone fireplace, and hanging lights created a romantic atmosphere.

Lovely, low arrangements in birch bark containers were placed throughout the room on the round guest tables. Composed of Pee Gee hydrangea, blue thistle, dusty miller, ivy tendrils, wheat, and greens, the arrangements added vibrancy to the room. Each centerpiece was encircled by silver, vintage mercury glass votives.

To keep variety and interest in the design, the other guest tables at the reception were adorned with small, rustic lanterns. The lanterns sat on round, wooden slabs draped in moss, hydrangea blooms, and seeded eucalyptus. Mercury glass votives complemented the warm glow from the lantern centerpiece.

The rectangular head table allowed for a more dynamic tablescape design. A long garland of salal, seeded eucalyptus, magnolia, and hydrangea blooms extended down the length of the table. Glass cylinders for the bridesmaid’s bouquets and votive candles were nestled into the garland. Additionally, long and low, rustic iron troughs were filled with moss and a line of votive candles.

We were so honored to be a part of Christian and Jesse’s wedding day! It has certainly become one of our favorite weddings to share, not only for the stunning photographs and gorgeous views, but for the pure joy and love that Christain and Jesse exude. Congratulations to the lovely couple, and we wish you all the best in your future together!

Kristen and Kevin

Kristen and Kevin’s wedding was a gorgeous occasion that was infused with a casual feel, but a sophisticated style. The lovely pair was married on October 10, 2015 at Verulam Farm. The location complemented and enhanced the theme of Southern elegance with a rustic charm. The wedding was planned by Verulam’s very talented Kennon Ibbeken and photographed by the exceptional William Walker Photography.

Kristen was the epitome of bridal elegance. She wore a champagne colored gown, and carried a unique and romantic bouquet of succulents, white freesia, ranunculus, hydrangea, and white garden roses. Seeded eucalyptus, rosemary, silver brunia berries, and privet berries added texture and volume. The bouquet was tied together with a cream satin ribbon and pinned with a line of seed pearls. The bride added a personal touch to her ensemble with colorful cowboy boots.

The ceremony was held in the field of Verulam, facing the mountains, with the backdrop of the main house. Our birch arch was used for the altar. Organically arranged magnolia leaf, hydrangea, and roses cascaded from the arch and framed the altar. Clear jars of blue, white, and green florals dangled from shepherd’s hooks along the aisle. The highlights of the ceremony were the adorable flower girls, wearing white dresses and cowboy boots. Of course, the pure happiness on the bride and groom’s faces could not be matched.

The Cider Barn on the property housed the reception. The florals were loose and elegant, with a “from the garden” feel. Birch and wood accents, along with lanterns and mason jars, completed the decor. The head table, a vintage farm table, was framed by a garland of greenery. Two low, rustic iron troughs were filled with moss and placed on the table. Votives were nestled in the moss running down the length of the trough, adding a romantic feel. Small floral arrangements in mixed, delicate, and vintage vases were placed on each table. The reception was catered by A Pimento, and the delicious cake was created by Cakes by Rachel.
